OUR VISION

A New Jersey healthcare culture in which all providers, in all settings, recognize the prevalence and health impact of sexual and domestic violence. In this environment, providing trauma-informed care will be the standard of care.

THE FACTS

  • 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men

    in the U.S. will experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner with a negative impact such as injury, fear, concern for safety, or needing services. CDC, 2017

  • 1,824,000

    people living in N.J. experienced contact sexual violence during their lifetime. CDC, 2017

    people living in N.J. experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

These visits give healthcare providers a unique opportunity to identify and address violence with their patients, to help reduce both immediate and long-term consequences.
